Martin Laird looks forward to Scottish Open at Castle Stuart

Martin Laird: Will be honing his links skills at Castle Stuart

Laird, to compete on the PGA Tour, is based in the United State, as an ideal preparation for public occurred in Muirfield, further down the east coast of Scotland, one week after seeing the game.

30-year-old Glasgow Fort Stewart's hope the weather will give his fellow competitors tasted the "real link" gold.

"Last year in the final round it finally blew with the kind of strength and direction you expect and the course played hard so if we get a bit of wind up here it will be good," he said.

"But i'm sure with the weather we've been having the greens will be firm and fast and play like a true link course- which is a great warm-up for next week."

Laird also hopes to emulate Wimbledon champion Andy Murray, his compatriot, remember to open a Scottish summer sports and victory.

"When you think if how hard he (Murray) has worked and how it made it his mission to win, it can't help but give you pride both as a Scot and a Briton," he added.

"Winning Wimbledon is the pinnacle of tennis just like winning The Open is the pinnacle of golf and if i could hopefully do that next week it would be great to have two Scottish winners in the space of a few weeks."
